Year in Photos 2018

They say a picture’s worth a thousand words. In some ways, I agree. When you snap a picture, you freeze a moment in time. You capture the essence of the experience so that when you look back at them days, months, years later, the details conjure up the feelings of that moment. As much as I love writing my stories, I also challenge myself to tell a story through the photos I take. The angle and framing of the shot, what you include and what you don’t, and the focal point all contribute to the story. To my story.

I love reflecting on the past year through photos (you can click here to see my year in photos from 2017,Β 2016,Β 2015, andΒ 2014). The process of looking back over the photos from the past year takes me on a reflective journey and I smile, remembering the memories once again. 2018 was full of family, friends, food, and travels- all of my favorite things. Without further delay, here’s my year in photos, in chronological order.

Uh-oh! I see another ankle boot. What happened???? Are you on a mission to visit all the hospitals of the world? I also enjoyed playing “spot the landmark” in order to guess/determine where you went. You travel a lot!

That was last January, when I reinjured my ankle that I’d broken in Thailand. It’s still not 100%, but it’s much, much better! Did you spot them all?

I think I did spot them all, but identifying them all was another story. There were a few that I could not pinpoint a country. (I do know you went to Middle Earth though. πŸ˜‰)

wow! I am jealous of how much you traveled πŸ™‚ your teacher costumes are fabulous by the way – the picture that stood out to me the most was the one of the painting on the wall of the kids on the bike (it was a very unique illusion). thank you for sharing!

Your photos are wonderful. The photo w/ you replicating the wall painting (purple dress) is my fave. The grey sky w/ bridge cables is a close second.

Unbelievable! The places, the food, the people – especially the children! I loved looking at your pictures – many places I have never been. Love the costumes – you look great as Fancy Nancy! I think the best thing of all were the smiles!

Love these!!! What wonderful treasures you have in these photos! (As a side note, I think I need a new camera…) Absolutely loved strolling through your year as I looked these photos. Wondering what new places you will visit this year??

Thanks Jaana! All of these were taken with my iPhone. I have a fancy camera, but I don’t use it much. I need to do it more this year. Travel plans for the next couple of months include Bangkok, Bali, and Sydney, so nowhere new. I need to figure out somewhere new to go later this year.

Another awesome year in photos! Have to say, I really loved the bike and two boys, the mossy tree, the green hills with tree to the left and water in background (where was that?), and what a sunset!

Thanks Elsie! The bike one is Penang, Malaysia. The mossy tree is in Puncak, Indonesia. The green hills and tree is somewhere on the north island in New Zealand. The sunset is in Bryan, Texas, my hometown, on New Year’s Eve.
